 "PIGTAIL" DIVISION (coach pitch): Kindergarten - 2nd grade
 "PONYTAIL" DIVISION (player pitch): 3rd - 4th grade
 "MAJORS" DIVISION (recreational "travel"): 5th - 7th grade

"BAY MAJORS" DIVISION (player pitch): 5th and 6th grade inner league

BGSC Girls

OPEN TO ALL GIRLS GRADES: KINDERGARTEN - 7TH**
**(CURRENT GRADE AT TIME OF REGISTRATION)

PIGTAIL Division

  • Grades: Kindergarten - 2nd grade
  • Great fundamental program
  • Girls are pitched to (a batting tee will be used if there is no contact after 6-8 pitches).
  • Coaches assist on the field and behind the plate.
  • There is no catcher; All other formal positions are introduced and played.
  • Practices are held at the coach's discretion, but are typically held once a week depending on game schedule.
  • Games are on Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings at 6pm or 7pm and all games are played at Bradley Park.
  • Equipment needed: Softball glove/mitt. BGSC provides the batting helmets, bats,  fun colored uniform t-shirts, visors, and crazy fun socks! Girls can wear any type of shorts or pants.
  • Season starts the week of June 11th and concludes the week of July 23rd.

 

PONYTAIL Division

  • Grades: 3rd and 4th
  • League focuses on the fundamentals of the game and will introduce strategic play with extra focus on the introduction of pitching.
  • Players will pitch at this level and all formal field positions are played.
  • Practices are held at the coach's discretion, but are typically held once a week depending on game schedule.
  • Games are played on Monday-Thursday evenings at 6:30pm at the Dover Fields. Typically 2 games played per week.
  • Equipment needed: Softball glove/mitt. Cleats are encouraged, but not mandatory. BGSC provides batting helmets with face mask, bats, fun colored uniform t-shirts, visors, and crazy fun socks! Girls can wear any type of shorts or pants.
  • Season starts the week of June 11th and concludes the week of July 23rd or July 30th dependent upon playoff schedule

 

BAY MAJORS Division

  • Grades: 5th and 6th
  • League focuses on the fundamentals of the game and will focus on strategic game play with an extra focus on pitching.
  • Players will pitch at this level and all formal field positions are played.
  • Practices are held at the coach's discretion, but are typically held once a week depending on game schedule.
  • Games are played on Monday-Thursday evenings at 6:30pm at the Dover Fields. Typically 2 games played per week.
  • Equipment needed: Softball glove/mitt. Cleats are encouraged, but not mandatory. BGSC provides batting helmets with face mask, bats, fun colored uniform t-shirts, visors, and crazy fun socks! Girls can wear any type of shorts or pants.
  • Season starts the week of June 11th and concludes the week of July 23rd or July 30th dependent on playoff schedule.

MAJORS Division

  • Grades: 5th-6th-7th
  • Recreational "travel" league with Westlake, Avon Lake, Avon, Sheffield Lake, Amherst, and Vermilion.
  • Player fast-pitch and all formal field positions are played.
  • Practices are held at coach's discretion, but typically held once or twice a week depending on game schedule.
  • Games will be played throughout the week with possible games on the weekends this will be finalized once we have all the other city teams and field locations. 
  • Equipment needed: Softball glove/mitt and cleats. BGSC provides batting helmets with face mask, bats, uniform shirt, socks, and visors. Girls must provide their own softball pants.
  • Season begins week of May 21st June and wraps up in mid July.

 

ALL DIVISIONS:

  • Each team to be managed & coached by parents or adult volunteer.
  • Published rules for each division that will be strictly followed  (modified ASA Rules).
  •  Team practices & games in the evening to allow parent coaching and attendance by  players in summer day-care.
  • Practices to begin in May (not necessarily on in-fields) to focus on fundamentals & rules.
  • 8-10 game schedule (plus play-off games for PONYTAIL and MAJORS divisions) 
  • Player clinics to teach fundamentals and techniques.
  • Funding by registration fees and sponsorships.
