Bay Girls’ Softball Program Overview
Open to all girls, ages 6 – 16.
A Division – Grades K, 1, 2 – Teen umpire pitches to both teams. Coaches assist on the field and behind the plate. There is no catcher.
AA Division – Grades 3 & 4 – Player Fast-Pitch, teen umpires.
AAA Division – Grades 5 & 6 – Player Fast-Pitch, recreational travel league with Avon Lake and Sheffield Lake. Teen umpires.
Majors Division – Grades 7, 8, 9 – Player Fast-Pitch, recreational travel league with Avon Lake, Westlake, Sheffield Lake,
North Ridgeville and Amherst. ASA umpire behind the plate, plus BGSC teen umpire in the field for home games.
Each team to be managed & coached by parents or adult volunteer.
- Published rules for each division that will be strictly followed (modified ASA Rules).
- Training clinics for new coaches and umpires.
- Team practices & games in the evening, to allow parent coaching and attendance by players in summer day-care.
- Practices to begin in May (not necessarily on in-fields) to focus on fundamentals & rules.
- Ten game schedule (plus play-off games) to start early June.
- Player clinics to teach fundamentals and techniques.
- Funding by registration fees, sponsorships, and fund raisers.
